What is a "white tiger"?

The white tiger is a rare color variant of the Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) that is characterized by its distinctive white coat with blue eyes and pink nose. It is not a separate species or subspecies of tiger, but rather a genetic condition called leucism, which causes a reduction in pigmentation.
